Morro Bay is not only a great place to live; it is a great place to play!
Even when it is raining, there are things to do such as stopping at La Parisienne French Bakery for warm and delicious meal. It’s my go to regardless of the weather! The staff is always friendly and the food is delightful! Visit their Facebook page here.
Choose from assorted Croissants, Omelette or Breakfast Sandwiches, Quiches made daily, Sausage Puffs, coffee, tea, espresso drinks and more. If it’s beyond breakfast time, they have an extensive menu of Sandwiches, Burgers, French Hot Dogs, Soups Salads and fresh drinks. Eat there or take away to sit on a bench and watch the scene along the walking/biking path to Morro Rock.

Beginning at the Morro Bay Harbor, you can walk or ride your bike along a path out to the rock and back. On the west side of the rock you will find surfers catching waves and folks enjoying the beach. On the east side of the rock is the entrance to Morro Bay where you will see otters, boats coming and going, paddleboarders and kayakers. If you see a red ball on the water, there are divers below. On this rainy day, the SLO CAL Open was in full swing at Morro Bay. Surfers from all over came to compete in the 3 day (rain or shine) World Surf League (WSL) event. www.worldsurfleague.com
Turning back toward the harbor, you will see 3 towering stacks from the old power plant, a landmark of Morro Bay and destine to be taken down in the next few years. www.morrobay.org
Continuing on along the Embarcadero, you will pass Giovanni’s Fish Market www.giosfish.com where people stand in line to get their New England Clam Chowder. The Chowder is a town favorite and offered by most restaurants. Gaining the annual “Morro Bay’s Best Clam Chowder” is a local coveted award!
If you make it to Giovanni’s, be sure to take a peek at the Otter Nursery where the Otter Moms have a safe space to nurse their pups. The older pups are fun to watch as they love to play!
